Walt Disney World Conference Center
![]() Opened in August of 1980, the Walt Disney World Conference Center was located on the banks of Club Lake and was designed for small- and medium-sized business meetings. This Chalet-style building had four large rooms that could be broken down to a variety of configurations. The largest breakout was 6,500 square feet and could seat 505 guests in theater-style seating. Each of the rooms faced the lake and the lighting would automatically turn up if it got cloudy outside.
Meeting planners had the option of having themed entertainment with Disney characters and could organize special golf and tennis tournaments.
Since the Conference Center couldn't handle large convention crowds and trade shows, most large groups preferred to meet at newly constructed convention spaces at the Dolphin, Swan, Contemporary Resort and Grand Floridian. The original Conference Center was later remodeled and became part of the Disney Institute.
