Neon Armadillo

This was one of the original Pleasure Island clubs.  According to Island legend, the building was once a greenhouse for plants collected by Merriweather Pleasure.  The club featured Country and Western Music performed by live bands.
The decor included a big brass chandelier in the shape of a spur and inlaid wood tables with a Navajo blanket design.  A syndicated show called Countdown at the Neon Armadillo broadcast from here for a few months in late 1993.  The club closed in 1998 and was replaced by the BET Soundstage.  The Disneyland Hotel in California at one time had a similar club called the Neon Cactus.
