Bear in the Big Blue House

This show premiered in early 2000 and was presented several times a day in the home of the former Soundstage Restaurant. Guests sat on the carpeted floor and watched trailers for Playhouse Disney shows such as Rolie Polie Olie as they waited for the show to begin.

Bear is heard snoring backstage and the audience is urged to wake him up. After Bear (who had a noticeable string that moved one of his arms) comes out, he sniffs around because he smells friends nearby. He then interacts with the puppets Tutter, Ojo, Pip and Pop as well as very enthusiastic human cast members.

Songs included Welcome to the Blue House and The Bear Cha-Cha-Cha. Shadow and Luna also made an appearance. The show ended in August of 2001 and reopened in October of that same year with a new show featuring all of the Playhouse Disney characters.

HydraLing, who used to perform in this show, was kind enough to send the following information: "Just a note, as I did this show, the 'noticeable string' that you mention is part of the costume design by Henson. The show's costumes are exactly the same as those used on the television show. Often, the monofilament used on the costume is invisible to the camera but is still visible in close up shots."
